This week I’m setting aside the regular essay to say something simple.
A lot of people around you (family members, neighbors, colleagues) are affected by what’s happening in our country at the moment. Many of you are too. I am.
If you manage people, you already know this. But just a friendly reminder: when you’re working with actual persons (first name and last name), not resources or FTEs or employees, you’re working with people carrying what they’re carrying.
If you’re affected, you’re not alone in that. If you’re not, others might be.
That’s the difference between managing abstractions and working with persons.
The regular essay returns next Tuesday.
All the best,
R
